What would you take?

27 May

I am back! I have my pretty new laptop, my drawing programmes all downloaded again, my drawing tablet – old and decrepit as it is after buying for some £40 5 years ago was just plug in and go…did’t need a disk or anything. Score!

So I was thinking about all these Zombie world ending possibilities and the fact that the topic of “what is your zombie survival plan” comes up a lot of times when in the pub, spending an evening drinking cold beverages certain in ourselves that we could outrun the zombies despite being out of breath going up a flight of stairs.

I also began to think that when push comes to shove I would probably not pick the items that are most productive to ensuring my survival. I would be like those people escaping natural disasters where speed is of essence and half way down the road dump their sofa and embroidered silk face towels but refusing to dump my 9 season VHS collection of 24 because they are full of survival tips I can learn from Jack Bower, despite forgetting to bring the VHS player which I don’t own because who has those any more?

So here is my very helpful, totally not useless list of things for Maximum Zombie survival…but please, if you do succumb to them please don’t come as an angry zombie to reek terrible vengeance upon me. Chances are I’m already one of you.

Zombies are a gardeners enemy

23 Apr

My husband and his mum were talking on the phone about ways veggie patches can be damaged. I don’t think they considered this option…They just wouldn’t understand all the effort of growing a courgette from seed!

Life in the country and its influences

10 Apr

For the first 25 years of my life I have always lived in Bromley, Kent. This was as far into the “country” as I ever really knew and that if you got the bus to Hayes 10 – 15 mins away then you were truly in tractor country, there was even a farm to go strawberry picking!

Recently we have moved to “the country”, but more a commuter town in the name of Crowborough. This new area is lovely with trees and everything which has inevitably influenced my drawing with seeing herds of deer as our train rushes past field after field until Croydon. I have even gone so far as to make my own stag head mirror which is hung above our fireplace bringing the influence of nature indoors.

I love my mirror but the influences wont stop there as I aim to have a nice log pile on sho and some sort of work hung behind the sofa featuring trees and the likes.

I also find myself drawing a few more stags and after watching The Walking Dead wondered why the virus or whatever has caused the whole mess to start hasn’t yet transferred to animals, it only has to be a matter of time. So the conception of Zombambi was born! Image

Lets see what else will come out of this country living influence shall we as I move onto the hunt for some cushion cover fabric!
